Eugene Pergament is a leading authority on reproductive genetics, prenatal diagnosis, chromosomal disorders, genetic counseling and bioethics.   He has been instrumental in the development of chorionic villi sampling, preimplantation genetic diagnosis, clinical application of fluorescent in situ hybridization, genetic screening involving ultrasound measurements of nuchal translucency and biomarkers and noninvasive prenatal genetic testing.  Professor Pergament is a graduate of James Hillhouse High School (NHPS), Yale University, Purdue University and the University of Chicago.  He is a clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.  Professor Pergament retired from medical practice in October, 2013.  He currently serves as a consultant and advisor to biotechnology companies and as an editor and reviewer for several medical and research journals.
